There is plenty of parking available at our gym. On the main campus, additional parking can be found across from the Chapel, in the office lot, in front of the Dining Hall, and outside Emmanuel Dorm.
His Hill’s Annual Thanksgiving Conference

Join us for His Hill’s 52nd Annual Thanksgiving Conference in 2026 as we gather once again to hear from God’s Word.
Sonny Westbrook
Sonny just retired after 18 years of service at the Union Gospel Mission (the UGM) of the Inland Northwest. He served as Director of Ministries for 14 of those years and then as Staff Chaplain, fully retiring in December of 2025.
Prior to his service at the UGM, Sonny served for 7 years as the Superintendent of Northwest Christian Schools in Spokane, WA. He then was appointed the Director of His Hill and served in that position for 6 years. This was followed by 21 years of pastoral ministry. Three of those years he served as Pastor of Christian Education at Wayside Chapel in San Antonio and 18 years as Pastor of South Hill Bible Church in Spokane, WA. Over all the years, Sonny has also had the privilege of sharing in conferences under the auspices of Torchbearers here in the States and abroad.
During all the years, Sonny and Judy have counted it their highest privilege to be exalting the Lord Jesus Christ and His pre-eminent role in all of human history, right down to fulfilling His ultimate plan and purposes for each of our lives. Sonny and Judy’s greatest joy is being on this journey of life with the Lord Jesus Christ Himself at the helm.
Sonny and Judy have been greatly blessed to have four children, all married, providing them with 13 beautiful grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mark Thomas
Mark Thomas was born at Capernwray Hall at the time it was purchased and grew up, privileged to witness the development and growth of the Torchbearer ministry of which His Hill is a part. He became director at Capernwray in 1981 where he served until his retirement in 2017. He was educated n England but completed his college years in the USA at Columbia International University in South Carolina. While there met his wife and subsequently served as youth pastor in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was then invited to assist in the start of Ravencrest Chalet, a Torchbearer center in Colorado, and directed the work there until 1980. The following year he and the family moved to His Hill where he joined staff to assist Sonny Westbrook in his first year as director of that Torchbearer
center.
Major and Mrs. Thomas were taking up residence at Ravencrest and had asked Mark and Linda to move back to Capernwray to direct the work there. They look back with gratitude for all that the Lord was pleased to do in their lives and the many who came as students and guests over the 36 years that followed. Mark has been involved in teaching at Capernwray, other Torchbearer centers and various churches and ministries over the years as well as being past of the international leadership of Torchbearers.
Mark and Linda have two children and three grandchildren. Their son and family have lived in Peru for 22 years serving now with South American Mission, have three children with the eldest just married this year.Their daughter co-pastors a church, part time, in Salt Lake City and also works as mediator in the State of Utah. Mark expresses his joy at being part of His Hill’s 50th celebrations this year and grateful to be back at the Hill for Thanksgiving rejoicing in Christ with all those who take part.

Activities & Additional Information
Sessions
All sessions and coffee breaks will take place in our gymnasium, located across from the horse barn. An upstairs room will also be available with live-streamed audio for parents with young children or nursing babies who prefer a quieter space. This room includes a window overlooking the gym so you can still see the speaker.
Child Care
Child care is provided during each session for babies who are 9 months old and able to sit up on their own up to children 7 years old. Children 8 and up must join the sessions with their parents (children are not to be left unattended during the sessions). Childcare will be held in the upstairs of the gym during sessions.
Outdoor Activities
Tennis, basketball, pickleball, and sand volleyball courts are available for your use during the afternoons of the conference.
We will open our high ropes course on Wednesday afternoon. The 40-foot tower is an exhilarating activity that includes rappelling, wall climbing, zip lines, “The Screamer,” and “The Leap of Faith.”
Registration & Payments
When you arrive Tuesday, please drive to the bookstore (located in our library across from the dining hall) to register and pickup a schedule and name tag. Day guests will be able to pay for meals during bookstore hours in the library. The bookstore will be open for 30 minutes after all meals except the Thanksgiving feast.
