General Safety
Safe. Fun. Discerning.
At His Hill Ranch Camp, your child’s safety — physical, emotional, and spiritual — is our highest priority. Our commitment to you is to care for each child, as our own, in a way that cultivates the safe, fun, and abundant life of Christ through screening, health checks, weather safety awareness, abuse prevention, and excellent activity safety.

Our Safety Commitment
Zero Tolerance Bullying
Protecting children is a sacred responsibility. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward abuse through thorough screening, ongoing training, and clear reporting procedures. These measures help ensure a safe environment that reflects our commitment to honor God and care for every child. All staff and volunteers are required to complete training and pass an assessment on our abuse prevention policies.
Staff Screening & Training
All resident staff and summer volunteers undergo thorough screening, including criminal and sexual background checks and personal reference reviews, before working with campers. We are also grateful to have months of firsthand experience observing many of these volunteers interact with children through outreaches and Bible school, allowing us to confidently entrust them with the care of your children.
Property & River Safety
Since the events of July 4th, 2025, many first-time parents have asked how we operate safely with the Guadalupe River along our property.
At His Hill, campers participate in activities in our meadow area, including riflery, archery, canoeing, and occasionally our horse program. When campers are not involved in these activities, they are either on the Hilltop or at their cabin area (what we call “camp”).
The Hilltop, which includes the dining hall and chapel, sits approximately 160 feet above the river’s elevation, while the campers’ cabins are even further from the river, at roughly 200 feet above the river.
Our leadership team maintains direct communication with all activity staff to ensure a rapid response in any emergency. Campers are only near the river during scheduled activities, and safety protocols are followed at all times.
Weather Monitoring & Emergency Preparedness
Resident staff continuously monitor weather conditions using NOAA All Hazards Radio alert systems and are trained to respond quickly to any changing conditions. His Hill has clear communication and emergency procedures in place to protect campers and staff, allowing us to take action immediately when needed. All volunteers receive training in these procedures and regularly participate in emergency drills to ensure everyone knows their role.
Medical Team
Two trained camp health officers and a registered nurse are always on site caring for campers’ personal health needs with gentleness and integrity. Our medical team oversees first aid, illness care, and the safe distribution of medications to ensure each camper is supported and well cared for throughout their time at camp.
