Our Staff :

Our Summer team consists of resident Bible School staff and seasonal volunteers. The majority of our volunteers have attended our nine-month Bible School program or one of the affiliated Torchbearers International schools, and is personally known to us. All of our team members desire to share Christ's life and have demonstrated a love for our Lord Jesus Christ in accordance with God's Word. All staff members must have a completed background check and references before being accepted. Each summer parents identify our staff as His Hill Ranch Camp's greatest asset. A two-week training period is designed for our summer staff to become educated in camp policies and prepare them for the challenges and opportunities of our camp ministry.


Preparing for Camp:

Talking with your child about being away from home for the first time:

Homesickness may be an issue for some campers. Often summer camp is the first time children are away from home. Please make sure that your child is capable of an overnight stay at camp before he or she arrives. Talk with your child ahead of time and encourage them that they will have a good, safe time and you are excited for them to have this experience. If our counselors notice that your child is feeling homesick, our camp nurse and full-time staff will monitor the situation and will contact you if your child's condition does not improve. If you are concerned about your child during their stay at camp, please call the office and our office staff will check on your child personally and report directly to you.


Paperwork:

We strongly encourage all missing forms, final payments, and snack bar money be submitted by June 1st. This will ensure that check-in go smoothly on the first day of camp. You may log in to your account to pay your balance or visit our website to download needed forms. Please call the office if you have any questions. An e-mail confirmation will be sent once everything has been received. We offer a quick check-in at registration called Fast-Tract Registration. To qualify for Fast-Track Registration, you must submit the medical form, final payment, and snack bar money by the Wednesday prior to registration.


Roommate Request:

Requests must be mutual and campers may not be more than one year apart. We will do our best to honor all requests. We will not honor requests of more than three friends in the same cabin. One of the real benefits of camp is meeting and making new friends from different places. Encourage your child to get to know new people during their time at camp.


Lodging:

Our campers and counselors sleep in screened cabins with a minimum of eight bunks per cabin and a maximum of twelve. The ratio of campers to counselors is never greater than seven to one. Bathroom facilities are located centrally in the Ark Building.  Campers will need to bring their own bedding.


Medications/Special Needs:

Recent broken bones, limited activity, medical conditions, allergies and the like must be discussed with camp staff prior to arrival if they will affect your child's ability to take part in our regular camp program. You may speak with our Camp Nurse at check in to discuss any special needs or medication your child is taking. Camper medication (prescription and non-prescription) must be in the original bottle. The nurse administers all medication unless otherwise authorized by a practicing physician. The Camp Nurse is on duty 24 hours a day and the Methodist Medical Emergency Center is located nearby in Boerne.


If lice or nits are found on a camper during the week, we will contact the parent to arrange for the child to be picked up from camp. This policy is for the consideration and well-being of everyone attending His Hill Ranch Camp.

Food Allergies/Dietary Needs:

The His Hill kitchen is not a gluten free kitchen. We are unable to personally provide food to accommodate dietary needs such as lactose/gluten intolerance. We do, however, allow parents to provide pre-cooked, clearly labeled food and our Kitchen Manager will gladly reheat the food to serve your child. We appreciate your cooperation! Refund/Cancellation Policy:

Upon cancellation prior to the specified camp, His Hill will refund all but the $100 deposit.

  • Pre-Addressed, Stamped Envelopes to Write Home
  • Backpack That Has the Following: Water Bottle, Bible, Bug Repellant, and Sunscreen
  • Please do not bring cellphones, ipods, expensive jewelry, or anything else that you would miss if it were to be lost. Please label all belongings. All unclaimed items will be donated to charity.


Registration Sunday:

Overnight camp registration begins at 6:00pm on Sunday in the camp area. Any missing forms or outstanding balances are to be paid or submitted at this time. Please bring a check, money order, or cash, as we do not accept credit cards at registration. Campers will then be directed to their cabins, where parents may help their child settle in and meet their child's counselor.

Detour directions to camp from San Antonio:

  • I-10 West, Exit 524
  • Drive Through Comfort, staying on highway 27
  • Turn Left on Hermann Sons Road (at the flashing lights)
  • Drive 2.6 miles then turn left onto Lindner Branch Rd
  • Drive 1.2 miles then turn left on Mill Dam Rd.
  • Drive 2 miles and look for camp direction signs


During Camp:

Each day during your child's week of camp our media team will upload photos for you to view or download


Camper mail:

  • You are welcome to mail letters, packages, and e-mails to your camper. Please make sure that your camper's name and cabin is clearly written on the envelope/package. 
  • You are welcome to bring packages on Sunday registration to be distributed to your child on a specific day. Please be sure to clearly print the day on which you would prefer your child to receive the package.

  • Stamps may also be purchased in the snack bar. Young campers have difficulty writing our address so consider sending pre-addressed envelopes for them to use.

Snack Bar:

Campers may purchase snacks, drinks, t-shirts, water bottles, stationary and stamps in our snack bar. The snack bar is open Monday to Thursday afternoon and evening. Parents may deposit money into their child's snack bar account prior to arrival or at check-in. The average amount deposited is typically between $20-$30. Any money not spent will be returned at the end of the camp week. 


Closing Ceremonies:

Closing ceremonies begins at 7:00pm for overnight camp (except for scholarship weeks). Follow directions past the entrance to camp, past the chapel, and turn left into our gym entrance. During the 30 minute program parents will be introduced to the staff, view a photo slideshow from the week, and hear general announcements. After the program you will drive back to camp to pickup your child's luggage. 


Souvenirs will be available for purchase before and directly following closing ceremonies. 


Lost and Found:

There is a lost and found table set-up during the closing ceremonies on Friday evening. Please check the table for any misplaced items before you leave camp. If you realize that your camper did not make it home with an item, please call the office and leave a message describing the missing item(s). Please label all items and make sure that you have all your belongings before leaving camp. His Hill Ranch Camp is not responsible for lost or broken items.
